CINCINNATI, Ohio– Anderson stays undefeated with a dominating 53-16 win over Walnut Hills on Friday night. The Raptors got out to a commanding 40-0 lead in the first quarter. Anderson had 471 yards of total offense and picked up 23 first downs. Walnut Hills had 283 yards of total offense and eight first downs. Each team turned the ball over twice.
Owen Scalf found Cooper Kathman for a 53-yard touchdown just a little over a minute into the game. Kathman totaled three receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Davis converted on the two-point attempt to put Anderson up 8-0. Davis found the end zone again just a few minutes later on a four-yard rush and punched the two-point conversion in to push the lead to 16-0 midway through the first quarter.
The Raptors quickly got the ball back and Scalf scored on a three yard touchdown run. Scalf finished with 307 total yards (282 passing, 25 rushing) and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing). Davis converted yet again on the two-point attempt to stretch the lead to 24-0.
Jeremiah Glenn connected with Tysin Weaver on a 17-yard touchdown pass just a couple of minutes later. Weaver tallied three receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. Brody Poetter caught a pass on the two-point conversion to put Anderson up 32-0. Davis rushed for a three yard touchdown and rushed in the two-point conversion less than a minute of game clock later. Davis compiled 71 yards (61 receiving, 10 rushing) and two rushing touchdowns on just three carries.
Ke’Maury Tye had a punt block return for a touchdown just a little over a minute into the second quarter to push the lead to 47-0. Walnut Hills got on the board with a 23-yard pass from Will Rivers to Joshua Thornton. Thornton had a monster game with seven receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown. Caylen Murray caught a pass on the two-point conversion to make the score 47-8 at halftime.
Jeremiah Glenn scored on an eight yard run midway through the third quarter. Glenn finished with 131 total yards (83 rushing, 48 passing) and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing). Will Rivers found Caylen Murray for a 17-yard touchdown with one minute left in the third quarter. Murray collected three receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown. Rivers rushed in the two-point conversion to put the final score at 53-16.
Quarterback Will Rivers gained 284 total yards (278 passing, 6 rushing) and had two touchdowns through the air. Jason Nicholas had 96 receiving yards on just four receptions for Walnut Hills. Braylon Dennis had a forced fumble, while Eli Newman and George Lippert had a fumble recovery. Xander Hargis had an interception and Braylon Coleman added a sack on the defensive side of the ball for the Eagles.
Ethan Lisi had a fumble recovery, while Antwoine Higgins and Ace Alston each had an interception on the defensive side of the ball for the Raptors. Rylen Dean, Brayden Black, and Tahj Page each tallied a sack.
Anderson improves to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in ECC play. They will travel to take on Winton Woods next Friday night at 7 p.m. Walnut Hills falls to 2-6 overall and 1-6 in conference play. They will play Lebanon at home next Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
